When it comes to ranking the holidays, Thanksgiving is a favorite for many. Perhaps that is because this is a time of year when nature is showing of its most beautiful colors and the agenda for the day is filled with good food, family, friends, parades and football. It is also time to remember the many good things that we can be grateful for in life. The reasons for giving thanks are unique to the individual and can include gratitude for good health, family members who are able to visit for the holiday or the ability to provide for one’s family.
When those key things are not available, that is when we hope to rely on the services of friends, a church or a community organization to fill in the missing aspects. At Quarles we count ourselves thankful to have a group of associates who generously give back to the community with their time, service and monetary donations. Throughout the year, Quarles and its associates choose several community causes where they can make an impact in the area through their charitable involvement.
Capitol Area Diaper Drive
This year, we are proud to have hosted our summer diaper drive benefitting the Capitol Area Diaper Drive. The availability of diapers to those in need can have far-reaching effects. If a child has enough clean diapers, the baby is more likely to be able to sleep better, resulting in a benefit to the child from a developmental perspective as well for the mother who will need to make the most of her already-limited sleep cycle. Overall health for the child is also benefitted. A healthy child is more able to meet the necessary health milestones, allowing them to begin a successful educational path now and into the future. This year’s diaper drive and company bake sale allowed Quarles and its associates to donate more than 2,000 diapers and 4,000 baby wipes to the Capitol Area Diaper Drive.
Rappahannock United Way 2014
The 2014 annual campaign for the Rappahannock United Way event worked to create awareness and support the critical services needed within the community. This year’s theme Changing the Story shared the benefits of a positive support system when community members come together to assist each other. Twenty-six associates from Quarles participated in the annual Day of Caring event, sharing their time and services at nine projects with eight organizations located in the Fredericksburg and King George areas. With the assistance of our dedicated associates, Quarles was able to surpass its original goal of $35,000 by an additional $5,000, bringing the total donation for the 2014 annual impact campaign to $40,000.
At Quarles we are very thankful to have associates who are willing to share their time, talents and monetary donations with those in need in our area. It is with blessings and thanks that we wish all of our customers and associates a very Happy Thanksgiving.
